Human Milk
a drop wears down concrete
Human Milk is a research and educational initiative that asks: what is the future of infant feeding? We go beyond the breast and the bottle. We focus on what’s often overlooked: pumping, milk sharing, resource waste, and the systemic invisibility of women.
This project brings together education (trainings for perinatal professionals), space for research, and the redefinition of lactation norms. We support alternative feeding models and empower women – because lactation is not just biology. It’s also about choice, time, energy, and ecology.
Why doing this?
- Because lactation deserves a modern approach.
It’s not only breastfeeding – it includes pumping, milk sharing, and managing women’s resources. We need new data and new possibilities. - Because human milk is a resource – not a coincidence.
We can’t treat lactation as something accidental anymore. It’s physiology, yes, but also a social and systemic issue – one that calls for knowledge and innovation. - Because every woman should be able to choose how she feeds her child – with awareness and support.
More and more women are choosing different models – hybrid feeding, pumping, milk sharing – and they need real support. - Because times are changing – and so is the way we feed babies.
We need an approach that embraces diversity and doesn’t stick to one “right” way. - Because lactation can be light, meaningful, and supportive.
With knowledge and agency, women can build their own path. We’re here to help them do just that.
Why now?
- There’s a growing body of research on human milk and diverse lactation practices.
- Ecology and the carbon footprint of feeding are becoming key parts of the conversation.
- Women are increasingly managing lactation differently – and want real options.
What would happen next?
- Trainings for perinatal professionals – the first one is coming in fall 2025
- Space for research and innovation in lactation management
- Designing language, tools, and models that recognize the diversity and fluidity of women’s experiences
- Building a community rooted in knowledge that isn’t afraid to ask bold questions

About me
My name is Marzena. I’m a doula, lactation educator, mentor and community organiser, but most of all: mother of four, including twins.
I work at the intersection of empathy and action, supporting people and organizations through change: gently, attentively, and with a practical touch.
I’m especially passionate about human milk, exclusive pumping, and alternative lactation models. Through Human Milk, I aim to shift how we think about feeding – from an individual responsibility to a systemic opportunity. Read my story.
